Greymanner 4th Editorial: Behind The Scenes

While Farrell's enjoying his tropical January, Jordan and I are stuck in frigid & wet Vancouver wishing we could accompany him in doing a shoot in 25°c+ weather. Since we can't be with him, we've had to resort to sending our brave and unknowing model, Alysse Kushinski, to the rooftop of a windy loft. I only say unknowing because I didn't exactly tell her that the shoot was going to be outdoors, and she wouldn't have much to keep her warm. Woops!

I knew this was going to be a good shoot from the very beginning because I have never seen so many pets (cats & dogs) in one day ever. The best was the dog pictured after the jump who (no joke!!) made howls that would give Chewbacca a run for his money!!! The best! I would list all of the other dogs/cats that I saw that day, but since I have no photographic evidence, I'm sure you'd get a tad bored, but probably just very jealous.

So, for this shoot we have Alysse Kushinski as our brave model who I totally put on the spot (i.e. "You don't mind wearing underwear as outerwear, right?" or, "So, you're not going to be wearing anything underneath this," and a lot of "I'm sorry for touching you here, it's just, I need this to be perfectly tucked in."), but she understood it's for the good of fashion, and because we're pals. Thanks Alysse! Alysse's look from the neck up was made possible by the lovely & very talented make-up artist, Jeanette Schwarz, who was able to take my very convolutedly described vision and bring it to life, exactly as I envisioned it! She also was the one who got us up onto that loft, so without her, this shoot would've been lackluster. Alysse's look from the neck down was something I put together and wanted to share with you guys. Let's just say I was inspired by things that exude femininity - from the colour palette, to the pieces of clothing, to the textiles. We've also got the resident photographer for Greymanner, Jordan Petryk, who worked his usual splendid magic with his assistant Kenneth Fagan, and captured a ton of great shots (by dslr & a beautiful medium format camera) that we're both excited for Farrell to see!

I can only speak for myself when I say that I'm still learning this process, and this experience has definitely made me realize just how much needs to go into a shoot for everything to run smoothly. Despite the fact that I left two of my most important pieces (a top & a pair of shoes) at home, I still think we managed to pull it off thanks to our awesome team who helped make everything possible!

More after the jump!
