This week's outfit was inspired by Burberry Prorsum's amazingly well draped S/S 2010 line and the wonderful DIY that was posted over on Anywho. I also have a huge girl-crush on Freja Beha right now, and she wore this style of draped skirt on the Burberry runway. I've only ever dreamed of owning a piece from the Burberry Prorsum line and since I can't exactly justify stretching my student loans that far, I might as well just stretch it to Dressew, where I can pick up some fabric instead. I've been meaning to post an outfit that was centered around this DIY, but haven't been in the 'girly' mood lately so here it goes...
I have and always will love pastels; being an ex-ballerina, it's probably ingrained in me. I wouldn't exactly say these pieces are the epitome of pastel, but the sheerness, draping and colour together definitely give me that light/airy feel that I associate with pastels and ballerinas. My winter wardrobe generally consists of a darker palette, but I feel this adds a bit of cheerfulness in a winter way. The muted purple and pinks are light, but still have the weight of a winter colour. I'm also a recent convert of Unearthen necklaces - empty bullet casings with various crystals said to have positive healing effects on the body. I'm into them on a (mostly) aesthetic level.
How would I wear it? I've seen the rubber Marnis around and wondered how I would ever wear them, and now that it's raining every single day, this is how I'd do it... Tuck the Kain tank into the skirt and slouch the socks down (I'd probably still wear nude tights because it's so freakin' cold regardless).
