Little did I know about the fashion industry in Holland except for Viktor & Rolf. The contemporary design houses from Paris, Berlin or Milan always get the most of my attention but after some serious internet browsing, I found this guy, Sjaak Hullekes - a young Dutch designer with an obvious cool sense of style ( I want his glasses ! ). I realized there are so many fashion talents all over Europe that have yet to be discovered, I mean..that deserve an equal amount of exposure as the other world-renowned fashion labels.
Sjaak Hullekes, born in 1981, earlier this month just won an award from International Jury in Mercedez Benz Dutch Fashion Awards 2009 for his latest Spring/Summer 2010 collection 'Oscar', featuring mostly linen and silk-based dress-pants along 'extra' revealing short shorts for men.
And to think that most of the fashion talents usually come from the nation's capital, this guy is an exception. Based in Arnhem, a less-known city in the eastern part of Netherlands, Sjaak Hullekes collaborates with his partner, Sebastian Kramer, under the name of Arnheim Fashion. Not like their couple-alike senior, Dolce and Gabbana, who tend to join forces as if to declare their love union. Sjaak and Sebastian have a more modern way of thinking. They run Arnheim Fashion together and at the same time, they both still manage to have their own menswear label, Sjaak with 'Sjaak Hullekes', and Sebastian with 'Sebastic'. Hmm, speaking of separating business and personal space in a relationship.
