I thought Sweden had the most amazing jewelry/accessories designers when I posted about Hanna Hedman awhile back. Look what I found online recently - Natalia Brilli, a Paris-based Belgian accessories designer. The first thing that caught my eye is her most famous piece, the 'leather covered faux watch bracelet', not because I love nor would wear any kind of bracelet, but because I thought it was actually a Rolex watch, until I found out it actually wasn't.
Natalia Brilli is a designer (and happens to be a brilliant one) specializing in making leather covered objects (using lambskin in particular). Natalia launched her own line of sculptural jewelry and accessories for women and men in 2004, and has expanded her line by producing bags and unusual objects like skateboards, helmets, and even domino sets, all covered in high quality black leather, hand made and carefully crafted in France and Italy. Her signature style is her literal yet whimsical approach, relating the item's actual intended use on every design (i.e. sunglass pouch featuring embossed glasses motif, laptop bag with an embossed keyboard detail shape, black leather wallet with an embossed credit card outline and so on... )
I got the impression that her collection was originally inspired by the goth movement, but then eventually shifting to youth-pop culture as she began to add colorful pieces that you would only find in her recent men's/women's collection - i.e. a blue skeleton skull bag. This is what I like the most, a designer that holds on to her own unique style, but is open for progress, hence, her creation always evolves into something new and refreshing. I can't wait to see her next collection, even though I'm too budget-conscious to afford lambskin... at least for right now.
