Weekday

Weekday is a store from Sweden, but has since been acquired by H&M (who purchased the privately owned Swedish fashion company Fabric Scandinavien AB, that designs and sells Cheap Monday as well). So you probably know where this is going: Yes, Weekday is geared towards a mass-market target at a mass-market price point, but their designs are far from mass-market appeal. Weekday features lots of black, neutrals, draping, interesting forms, cuts and fabrics - all the things I look for, but at a fraction of the price. Alongside their house brand, MTWTFSS, they've also collaborated with many designers such as Carin Wester, Minimarket and Ali Zedtwitz.

I found it fitting to feature this amazing store (that I wish would open up shop in North America), since Farrell just wrote about Cheap Monday's lookbook. I also just wanted to put this out there so that if market analysts from H&M somehow see this (please, retail Gods!), they'll put a little note down in their notepads that North America is definitely in the need of some Weekday. Pipe dream or not, I once e-mailed Urban Outfitters about 6-7 years ago to tell them to open a store in Vancouver and I got a reply within 24 hours saying "We'll look into it!" I'd like to attribute that e-mail to their opening in Vancouver. What? That's what 15 year-old girls do.

Check out some pieces from each of Carin Wester's, Ali Zedtwitz's and Minimarket's collaborations with Weekday after the jump.
